Doug Gomez – ‘Mi Tribu’ – (OFFERING)

New York’s own Doug Gomez is one of the new kings of Afro House for me and that’s quite astonishing as he has started his career in 1987 already. During his first years the drum lovin house music head worked as a DJ and A&R (ZYX and Waako Records), then took a break from music and moved to Costa Rica, where he now lives and produces. Finding new inspiration, Doug Gomez is now slowly but surely spreading his sound in the region and has become an unmistakable ambassador for Deep, Soulful and Afro House music worldwide. One of the outcome of this inspired geographic relocation is “Mi Tribu”. The release is true to Doug’s love for what he affectionally calls ‘That New York sound’, a sound profoundly Afro latin and as deep as deep can get. What you get are no less than five individual tracks, which ooze sunny percussion, deep chords and superb funky basslines. On top of it all you get the minimalistic, yet massive Boddhi Satva Remix of the key track of this EP ‘New York Natives’. All in all this release carries on where his recent EP for Unquantize Records left off. Watch the new king of Afro Latin, more is soon to come!
