While Jonny Slut basks in the incredibly-received return of his first band Specimen at the Batcave reunion the other week there’s still no letup for the project he started out of the Nag Nag Nag club with Fil OK over five years ago. Singles like ‘Hooked On Radiation’, ‘Ball & Chain’, ‘Zero Zero’, ‘I’d Prefer Not To’ and ‘Je Suis Lesbien’ and the Rubber Youth album have cemented Atomizer at the forefront of the London electro scene: no one takes it further but marrying the outrage and attitude with a sensitivity which actually gives the music its edge. They keep getting better, as this warthog’s strap-on of a blockbuster proves. ‘Reptile’ is a haunting love ditty goosed by Gary Numan. The title cut clonks and bitches with surreal lyrics exhaled with the right dose of petulance, coming with metallic overhaul by Joe and Will Ask and a fun-packed squirter by De Trop. ‘Black Hand’ hikes glammy electro-pants while ‘The Perfumed Garden’ indeed recalls Specimen’s sinister breathiness. A veritably bulging package.
