CRAZY GIRL
BAD ASS REPUTATION/PLAY AT YOUR OWN RISK
DC RECORDINGS

A true original in today’s uniform clubland, Crazy Girl is on the way up. After live performances in some of London’s most fun hangouts (Nag, Cock, Kashpoint, Electrogogo) and “Cocaine Talk”, her hilarious first single on Tummy Touch, the American expat has now got a tasty double-pack coming out on Notting Hill labe DC. “Bad Ass Reputation”, her collaboration with Chicken Lips, sees Meecham and Meredith skilfully juggle their eighties Funk obsession with a couple of mixes that can only be described as inspired by NY’s Danceteria (a gimmicky chorus à la Tom Tom Club and Human League/Martin Rushent synth licks). On the second platter, J. Saul Kane of Depth Charge invites her to rework Planet Patrol’s “Play At Your Own Risks”, Arthur Baker and John Robie cult old-skool Electro masterpiece. Needless to say that quivering with excitement, the Octagon Man goes in full breakdance mode and gets the whole of his analog palette out to paint a detailed picture with lots of eventful drops and variations (vocal & dub).
