This label’s on a roll too, here unleashing Sweden’s Olle Corneer, who first
impressed in 2005 with his Songs For Good Lives album on Malmo’s Deeplay
Soultec label followed by a string of hot twelves, including last year’s
Gigolos debut ‘Saved in Dadaland’. In these musical cross-dressing times,
pigeonholing is tricky but if Electro now means forward-thinking electronic
music with a certain attitude [In fact just like techno!] you could plant
the title track in that box with its mad voices, skewed and squawky riff
mutations and even a rock sensibility in the overall attack. ‘Teasing Jackie
Blue note’ is an oddly-compelling turbo-throb whose sounds swell slowly like
a waking elephant’s morning stiffie. ‘I Shot The Taxman’ – great title! – is
a technoid percolator with ringtone noises rounding off another upwards
movement for the promising young producer.
