Berlin’s Ellen Allien is some kind of techno superwoman. She has a busy deejaying schedule, runs arty electro-techno imprint Bpitch Control and even finds time to produce minimal narco-fuelled chuggers such as ‘Magma’ (129 BPM). Lifted off her (already) third album ‘Thrills’, it now benefits from an awesome remix by Border Community’s The MFA (trancey electro, kinda Moroder on ketamine, 128) and label mates Modeselektor (129). Crosstown Rebels is one UK label that’s really gone for stripped-down euro tech-house. With ‘Stay’ Jennifer & Ho deliver more bleep nonsense (131) but Alter Ego’s Roman Flugel wins over with a clubbier rework that’s none the less schizophrenic (131).
