This week’s booty is in fact a cover that raised a few eyebrows when it first turned up on Kompakt’s 100th release a few months back (a double cd of some of the label’s best tracks remixed by in-house artists). A remake of T Rex’s ‘Hot Love’ by Cologne’s hottest and gayest talent Meloboy (an expat) and why not? The original is actually fairly close to Bolan’s masterpiece. Produced by Justus Köhncke (ex-Whirlpool Productions) and Wolfgang Voigt (who runs Kompakt), you know you’re in good hands (119 BPM). The later, under his Wasserman guise, goes harder and crazier (124) whereas DJ Koze takes it one acid step further with a minimal techy-disco rendition that could cause casualties late at night (124).
