Kinky Roland aka The Replicant is yet another Londoner signed to Berlin label Beautycase. After some of his famous friends provided vocals on previous releases (Boy George, Marc Almond, Princess Julia) he’s now taking the lead. For those who like that kind of thing, the oppressive ‘Chant 64’ has a real military D.A.F. feel to it (133 BPM). However ‘The Return Of The Mighty Machine’ is simply delicious thanks to its inspired melodic pads and vocoder hook (131). ‘Sexy, Sexy, Sexy’ by the Party Monsters (aka Apollo 44O’s Noko) with Eva Meinhof on vocals is a little too gimmicky for its own good (129), luckily T-Total give it an appropriate sleazy edge on the flip (125).
