Henry ‘Riton’ Smithson follows last year’s startling ‘Homies & Homos’album – as well as remixes for Kylie, Scissor Sisters and New Order – with a collaboration with Howdi. that is far less spikey. In fact, it could be called an electro ballad with its lovelorn vocals and muted backdrop. The flip’s ‘Walk On Water’is much dirtier, bringing in acid house elements and invoking an evil robot voice to intone lines like ‘I don’t want to fuck your daughter, just because I’m in a band’. Might be dark and grungey but delivered with a constant half-smile.
