A right sleazed up little funker we have here as Lord Fader and Kaiser Saucy do their own ambitious treatment of Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s ‘Raw’ and pull it off quite spectacularly. Their original is a wonderful distillation of 80s electro-funk, ‘Atomic Dog’-era Clinton bassatronics and 21st century production techniques. Kitchen sink job – there’s even a dash of ‘Breakin’ Bells’. First they remix themselves into a kind of electrolysed house fry-up before Cagedbaby plants the Princey vocal into a sleazy butt-smacker. Kissy Sell Out go for a grunty, acid-tinged electro-smacker. Idiotech add a spacey, Moroder feel and Botchit & Scarper’s home in on that donkey’s donger of a bass rumble. A fitting tribute to ODB.
