After supporting The Prodigy on tour last year, and several awesome appearances at top London nighteries (Cargo, Turnmills etc), YOB unleash their debut single on a largely unsuspecting world. Lurking somewhere between urban hip-hop and electro-rock is YOB: and with this track, they take no prisoners. It’s an anthem to fake Burberry hats, Staffordshire terriers, customised motors, “council flat living and lottery winning”. Electro beats set the agenda, when the sudden arrival of guitars, (sonically sharper than a Prince Albert piercing) shred the sound-field before rapper Fazza’s cheeky London-centric flow gets you by the balls. The delivery is classic and unforgettable. No surprise then that it has been getting some early plays on national radio. And anyone that manages to squeeze the following line into a tune: “We know your mother, she sucked us all off,” deserves a medal from the Queen or Kris Needs or someone. Enjoy.
