ZERO DB
BONGOS, BLEEPS & BASSLINES
NINJA TUNE

It’s never easy to pin down the style of the zerodB duo Chris Vogado & Neil Comstock. They jump over electro, nu-jazz, hip-hop, breaks and house with frightening ease.  The only thing that unites their sound is the speaker worrying sub-bass.  Pleased to report that this taster for their new soon-to-drop LP continues the tradition, and “Bongos, Bleeps & Basslines” is probably as accurate a description of their style as you’ll ever find.  Are you swaying? a nice lady asks, over a swing-heavy rhythm, backed by snatches of honking sax and crazed bass tones. It’s rave for an older generation.  “Know What I’m Sayin'” kicks off in a similar style, before switching to a dope hip-hop jazz crossover thang with Pase Rock taking care of the microphone in fine style.  The album’s looking damn good on the basis of these two cuts.
