Picked from DJ IQ’s “Brainfood” album, “Brainfood Allstars” is a mainline posse cut that sees a cast of practically thousands – including Jehst, Yungun, Micall Parknsun, Kashmere & Asaviour – deliver mind spinning rhymes over a cast-iron backing from DJ IQ. Unlike many posse outings, it doesn’t degenerate into a shoutathon or incoherent freestyle, keeping the funk ridden groove and the lyrics flowing perfectly. The catchy hook makes it ideal for dj use, too. “Kaleidoscopes & Tightropes” is a late night soul burner that gives Asaviour centre stage for his particular brand of verbiage. Easy to see why DJ IQ is picking up all the props – this guy’s productions skills are way ahead of some older producers on the scene. Recommended.
