Awesome deep funk action from New Zealand’s Open Souls collective. They manage to capture that essential raw vibe right in the groove, which, married to Tyra Hammond’s unbelievable vocal prowess, makes for a floor-filling concoction that could hold it’s own against the likes of Marva Whitney or any other funk classic you care to name. In addition to the rowdy”You Got Me Thinkin'”, there’s three varied instrumentals (including a nice bossa moment to show they’re not just about the funk), making this a knockout second release for the Mukatsuku label. Limited to 500 copies only – move quick, it won’t hang around.
