ASHLEY BEEDLE PRESENTS THE LONDON HEAVY DISCO REVUE
WAR ON THE BULLSHIT
OUTWEAR AUDIO

Nobody flies the flag for the original New York Loft spirit of freewheeling jazz, blues and rock elements invading the disco from outer space like Mr Beadle. He’s been sculpting these epic organic journeys from the early 90s and, when not turning someone else’s afternoon tea party into the best disco in town, occasionally feels the urge to create a new monster. ‘War On The Bullshit’ takes its title – and I believe its muted vocal loop – from a mid-80s funk attack by Osiris. But that’s just the springboard for Ashley and studio partners Darien Morris and wonder-keyboardist Such Closeness to take off on a remarkable romp which, after establishing hypnotic rhythm momentum, scales the heavens with electric piano flourishes, sci-fi whooshes, Arthur Russell strings and intergalactic sonic sprinkles from the udders of God’s cow. The endless rolling spirit is somewhat reminiscent of Dinosaur L’s ‘Go Bang’. ‘And Justice For All’ is a jazz-funk delight mixing ‘Superstition’ clavinet with Weather Report finesse. Ashley and Uschi also take a Nu Groove jazz-house dip with ‘Jump Up [Massai]’. All delirious, respectful and steaming with creativity. We needed this record.
