Cera Alba – Redshift Vortex

Anyone who’s checked in with Cera Alba’s music over the past while knows all too damn well that his is a talent that’s not without its merits. Since having first landed on our radar thanks to work on the likes of Hot Creations, the British producer has since cropped up on myriad great labels, the latest of which is Troupe, an imprint that stems from the party of the same name. And just as you might imagine from a release entitled ‘Redshift Vortex’, this is a colourful and full-on release of the type that Mr.Alba has based his career on thus far. Kicking off with the sounds of ‘’Dura’’, the EP wastes absolutely no time getting down to business. The percussion is tight and interwoven with a host of chimes and bells, while the sporadic vocal sheen lends it an added charm. Full of zest, it’s a veritable treat that really explodes into life by the time its bulbous bassline is allowed to fully envelop the track. ‘’Event Horizon’’ is another chugging monster, the time with a mound of subdued vocals and some clever drum work at its core. Again, the producer keeps the suspense high, and while it takes some time to fully come to life, by the time it does it’s a real force to be reckoned with. More top class stuff from an up-and-coming producer who’s starting to leave his mark on the scene in his own inimitable manner.
