Death On The Balcony – One Time Too Much – (D-Edge)

Deep house is all the rage right now, but few producers actually manage to conjure up the sort of spiritually deep and emotive sounds that were first pioneered by the likes of Prescription Records and Larry Heard. Coming close on their next EP are Leeds duo Death on The Balcony. It comes on the ever impressive label arm of one of Brazil’s foremost clubs, D Edge. Across three tracks the pari of producers prove they know how to sample, how to write melodies and how to go properly deep without losing focus of the floor. Up first is Keep Our Love Alive, a ditty track with appreciated melodies and rich, musical chords that really strike a nice note. One Time Too Much is a little more direct, but is just as littered with great melody and shuffling, tinny drums that make you move. Lastly, History repeats is awash with loveliness, well sampled vocals and a groove that really permeates your soul. This is a fine effort from Death on the Balcony that deep smiths really should check out.
