Macedonia’s Edmond Binoge who debut’s with this EP for the Leeds based imprint has done a sterling job in referencing the past while not being restricted by it. ‘Lifted Me Higher’ kicks things off with a notable Chicago based bassline, which you can almost hear the word Jack repeated over, but imaginatively side steps the obvious with an array of fresh sounding synths and contemporary production values. Saytek’s Acid Sandwich Remix then gets deeper with pulsating bottom-end and filtered vocals before hitting the original’s bass. Second track, ‘Lipstick In Da House’ again plays fizzy keys against juicy bass sounds on another captivating arrangement, while the self-explanatory ‘In Love With Me’ ends with tougher rhythms rounding off most impressively out of the three.
