Gabriels – Amethyst – (ONE RECORDS)

Let’s put it like this. A record like Amethyst is more likely to be remembered in ten years’ time rather the static run of formulaic, generic tech-house (using the words loosely). Built around a repeating yearning vocal its gritty combination of pounding drums plus array of probing synthesisers which create distinctive, brooding textures leave an indelible impression. Or, plugged in directly this production exists in a time and space of its own making. One version – good – and to be released on vinyl. Say no more.
