A whole bunch of current music is drawing influences from the funky submerged hooks and rhythms of techno to re-ignite UK dancefloors with mindtwisting, rolling house grooves. As DJs are becoming more open-minded, continental filthy house is creeping back in and work from the likes of Funk D’Void & Phil Keiran (‘Black Worm’ & ‘White Lice’) are driving clubbers mental with their raw, stripped productions. Sometimes for a proper mid-set thrash it’s appropriate to go back to the source for a full dose of pure energy. This Percy X release for Soma perfectly fits the bill: A full five minute hoon fest of studio trickery and disgusting rhythms.
