Geil – Ambigue – (SSOH)

Geil is a French artist living in Montpellier who has been active since 2006. He has worked under a different alias before now but here serves up some hot house music on the SSOH label that Claude Monnet has run for the last two decades. Ian Pooley and Atapy, as well as the label boss himself remix his original to perfection. ‘Ambigue’ is the original and is an emotive and cuddly, soft edged and seductive house cut with whispered vocals and loose drums as well as some sexy breathing. Ian Pooley remixes with a stern underground house vibe that is firmly rooted in a big warehouse. Label boss Claude then comes correct with a top remix that really stands out for its killer sense of groove and tripped out atmospherics. Finally, Atapy serves up the most peak time and hardest hitting of all the cuts, with its wobbling bass and metallic snare patterns. Overall though, a killer release.
