Your favourite Swede, Jonas Rathsman emerges from the Kompakt lab with a heavy weight double header. ‘New Generation’ is a epic techno opus that mixes and blends like hot viscous oils in a deep, dark vat. There is brightness with the clear bells and closed triangle hits but the sprawling bottom end is what makes it so appealing. ‘Conium’ is a whistle and flute driven excursion with a roaring, drive-by bassline. It’s pretty – with a twitchy dark side. These are rich, intelligent, assured productions for those who like their techno to test them cerebrally and physically.
