An artist and label more commonly associated with the broken beat / nu-jazz scene, however, New Zealander de Clive Lowe’s latest single is truly stirring garage boogie dynamite in the tradition of classic era NY labels like West End, Emergency, and their ilk. A killer bassline, shimmering chords and live sounding drums summon up modern disco vibes for vocalist Lady Alma to spice up nicely. And not a filter or sample in sight – imagine! There’s also an instrumental on which that massive b-line shines through, plus a rawer broken beat version, for those inclined that way. However, the safe money’s on that tremendous Original mix – don’t miss it.
