Robots Need Oil are behind original track, Mood Swing, and it proved such a big selling hit for the Artreform label that they have decided to enlist two producers to remix and re-release it. The chosen ones are Ukranian producer Joss and British pair Trav & Volta and the results are truly compelling.
The Joss version is a supple bit of elastic and rubbery house music with great Middle Eastern string sounds, as well as a heartfelt and emotive female vocal. Its ebbs and flows perfectly, swelling to a big peak then dropping into the punchy groove once more. King Street associated act Trav & Volta then turn in a much more lively and percussive remix with bobbling drums, main room chord stabs and plenty of diva-ness in the vocal. It’s a funky rework that will likely win this track – and as a result this label – many new fans.
