2020 Vision’s appeal over the years at times has been about being on the money in terms of trend without ever looking like they are trying to latch onto a bandwagon, and this release encapsulates that ethos brilliantly. Walter Ego ‘CTRL+ALT+DEL’ in it’s original form you can see appealing to the new guns of dance music tempted by the house and garage pop combinations teased in by MK and Gorgon City, but there’s enough quirk about it to make sure it stands out in a crowded field. We are all over the PBR Streetgang mix though, which starts off a bit more pared down as the vocal loops and become more and more prominent before turning into an absolute monster late on. They’ve managed to pluck an air of Little Dragon’s singer Yukumi Nagano in the vocal which isn’t apparent on the original, as well as the use of those bassy stabs that instantly make you think of Jay Dee’s ‘Plastic Dreams’. And there’s even a hint of Carl Craig about it the building synth which transforms the track from it’s seemingly innocuous beginnings. A great remix, and the reason for 5/5 from us.
