Rod Moya – Wok Talks

D Edge has long been one of the leading lights when it comes to the Brazilian dance music scene, and now their eponymously entitled label is making just as many waves around the world. Next up on the imprint is Rod Moya with his Wok Talks EP featuring two killer remixes from Manuel Shagún and Andre Butano vs Demian Muller. It’s the title track that opens things up in chunky tech funk style, The bulky drums set a nice deep groove and a meandering, curious and whimsical synth lines weaves in and out in intriguing, teasing ways. Next up is a remix of Too Much Cold by Andre Butano vs Demian Muller. This one is a quicker, more energetic and bouncy house cut with nice hi hats, bulbous bass blobs and a keen sense of never ending groove that its impossible not to dance to. Last but not least, Manuel Shagun tackles the same track and reworks it into something deep, dirty and dark, with a great bassline, classic wooden drum hits and plenty of slap-funk loveliness. D Edge has long been a king of the dance in Brazil and long may that continue.
