Roni Kush – Robot Noise – (Foreign Language)

Foreign Language Records serves up a tidy new four EP here that veers into tech-house territory. It comes from Roni Kush, an Ibiza based producer who’s already repped the likes of Lost In Ibiza, Ministry of Sound and has even played at clubs like Eden on the White Isle. With credentials like that, it’s perhaps no coincidence that he’s been touted as one to watch, and this Foreign Language release only serves to compound this promise. Robot Noise is first and is a supple bit of techno with rubbery drums, distant, gentle percussion and increasingly unhinged synths that slither and zither about. This is main room stuff that will light up dance floors and make people go wild. Next up is the remix by Scurrilous, which is another gnarly cut. This time bass pans left and right, swirls around and round and all sorts of otherworldly, sci-fi sounds light up the skies above. This is colourful, trippy techno for the dark of the night. The B-side gets underway thanks to Ali O’Sullivan’s mix, which keeps us guessing thanks to its penchant for low-fi frequencies. The last of the bunch is Marco Loco’s remix, which again brings us back to banging pastures. This is a really great EP from a label and an artist you’d do well to keep an eye on.
