Ryan Crosson – On The Rise EP – (Visionquest)

The action gets underway thanks to the ethereal and hypnotic strands of ‘Cadets in Heat’. Full of foreboding motifs and intricate glares, it’s the sound of a producer who’s not afraid to mix it up once in a while. Title track ‘On the Rise’ is a spiky and unwavering piece of high-end tech house, whereas the curtain call, ‘D!!!’ (perhaps a homage to the producer’s hometown?) is more concerned with abrasive percussion and in-your-face vibes. All things told, this is very classy stuff indeed.

If interesting electronic music is your thing, then chances are you’ve already checked in with the sounds of Visionquest. The US label has been on a real rich vein of form of late, captivating their audience thanks to works from the likes of Sonny Fodera dn Gene Farris, who came together beautifully on a recent VQ release. Anyhow, all this aside, their most recent comes at us from label head, who delivers with some class here courtesy of the excellent hues of the On the Rise EP.
