Souldate – Dreaming EP – Depaart

Madrid based Depaart have been unleashing a steady succession of quality releases for a while now and this latest by Souldate is possibly one of their finest. Two tracks go to make up the EP with the apt ‘Dreaming’ sounding perfect in the hot weather we are having right now. Sparse, Rhodes chords and pulsating rhythms combine on this warm production with vocal hints and swirling fx filling in the spaces between the hypnotic production. However, it’s the cheekily titled, ‘Excuse Me Wasn’t A Question’ that has the edge with its tougher attitude, taught wondering bassline and moody atmospherics that all lend the voice its heavy impact.
