Susanne Sundfor – Fade Away – (Sonnet Sound Via Kobalt)

Norwegian pop songstrel Susanne Sundfor releases the ecclesiastical sounding ‘Fade Away’ – the first track to be lifted from her debut album ‘Ten Love Songs’. We have heard her distinctive voice cutting a swathe through material from fellow Norwegians and collaborators M83, Royksopp (‘The Inevitable End’) and on her self-produced album her vocal and production stance is of the 80s pop funk influenced kind. As for the remixes, it is all about Maps’ haunting synth swells and Moroder-esque arpeggiation for me but there is also the lazy funk of Coucheron, the dazzling nu disco of Bjorn Torske together with the full steam ahead, squashy Level 42 bass licks of Big Black Delta should you require something with sharper teeth. Susanne sings plaintively, ‘This is the kind of love that never goes out of style’ – and I think she could be right.
