Vesta ft Heather Melgram – Neon Heart – (Flak Records)

Well here’s something very interesting indeed. It’s by Vesta, a Leeds producer who just arrived on our radar. If you’ve yet to check in with this eclectic maestro, then be sure too soon, for his is a veritable talent that’s not lacking in the emotive stakes. A producer of sounds that are as rich as they are varied and as eclectic as they are catchy on the ear, Vesta is the sort of man for whom genre tags really don’t mean a thing. Unpretentious in his approach to his craft he’s the sort of proper producer who’s focused on the sounds as opposed to the person behind it. Either way, his latest release on the Flak Records label really is a joy to behold.

A real mish-mash of styles and sounds, this is a cracking release, especially if you’re into contemporary deep house with a twist. Heather Melgram’s vocals give are highly dramatic and filled with tension, and its pop sensibilities are wrapped up with the sort of sheen that even the most accomplished producers would only dare try their hand at. Catchy but melodic, its canny beats also leave us guessing to the last. It comes armed with a radio edit too, which is no surprise considering its vast crossover potential. Nice stuff, no doubt about it.
