Jaymo & Andy George ‘Lost Loops & Broken Tapes’

Here’s a pleasant surprise, those lovely two fellas who’ve been cranking out main room house and techno have made a delicious downtempo track. ‘1968 (The Broken Tape)’ is a great bit of instrumental hip hop which has a feel of the Avalanches about it, a breezy string driven cut that’s a delight for when you’re building super low tempo from the off. They go for the same vibe but with much more full on BPMs on ‘Plump Funk’, which has a late 90s bar grooves feel to it’s thumping house drums.

Remix wise Marquis Hawkes and IDAMOS take ‘1968’ to the duo’s standard club tempo setting, the former building from his delightful AUS released ‘Eivissa’ to deliver a summery cut, complete with melodic touches which make us think of the best house NRK used to deliver. It’s IDAMOS’ effort we’re really feeling mind, a really well-produced bit of strung out house music which has emotion all over the shop and keys for days.
