Welsh techno dragon Jon Connor is back on his Bubblejam imprint with an eclectic selection of 10 tracks under the banner ‘Steam’. I can only hazard a guess that the working title of this superb new ensemble pays homage to the legendary techno event of the same name, that JC frequented in the mid-late 90s!
The intro on this is truly outstanding and really sets the mood straight from the blocks. Jon really tries to express himself musically on here with each track taking on its very own identity and no overly-obvious fan-base pleasing tactics in sight! My personal highlights are the nagging vocal workout ‘Keep the Love’, and the Beyer friendly darkathon ‘Loco’. Nice to see a UK techno artist doing it all by himself!
