JUSTIN ROBERTSON’S DEADSTOCK 33s – EVERYTHING IS TURBULENCE: REMIXED (SKINT)

Justin Robertson has such a versatile method of production that his music is ripe for the remix album treatment – and given the roll call here the decision to present an alternative view of ‘Everything is Turbulence’ must have been a no brainer. Even where the same track appears several times it does so in different sound worlds, the wonderful psychedelia of Andrew Weatherall far removed from DJ Rocca’s wispy electro approach on ‘For One Touch’. Alternatively ‘Bajo La Luna’ gets a going-over from Pareja, Oliver Deutschmann and SLAM, the latter a bruising encounter with rolling beats and, in the middle, the crispest of hi hats. A great compliment to the original piece of work.
