Knarly Knob – Remeo EP (Knarly Knob Records)

Chances are you have heard of Knarly Knob by now. He is a producer in a fine run of form who has really made a big assault on 2017. As well as churning out the tunes, he has started his own great label and now it is there he returns with three more killer cuts.

They really show a different side to the producer with the third, Insula, spending four minutes setting the mood with spacey electronics and harmonic sounds, sparse kick drums and sombre chords all getting you loose. Then finally a drum groove lands and helps carry you away. The other original is Remeo. It is seven minutes of clacking deep house with deep sub bass rolling down below. Squelchy sound effects and whirring machine sounds all flesh it out. This one then gets remixed by CLiVE, head of the Digital Traffik label’s A&R. His version is more direct and aimed at the floor with its slick drums and well crafted synths. It closes out a fine EP.
