Jonny White
Rainsong
No. 19

This gem slipped through the bulging pre-Christmas promo net and will be released soon but is well worth mentioning as first release on No. 19, the new label set up by Toronto’s Jonny White. ‘Rainsong’ is supremely atmospheric, cooking up steamy jungle ambience via marimbas and flooding washes of noises, particularly rain and thunder. Might prompt some swift umbrella rummaging among more caked revellers, the wet weather heightened further on the percussion-dominated ‘Rainbeats’ before Canada’s Adam Marshall turns in the sparser, worm’s-stiffie-foraging Deep Jupiter Dub. Fabulous start for the label.
