VARIOUS ARTISTS – ORBITER II (MOON HARBOUR) (24/08)

Moon Harbour has been going more than 15 years now, and the key to such longevity is evolving with the times. Ask the same time, you must stay true to your sound and not follow fads, and that is exactly what this new Orbiter does. The second in a series of VA releases to champion old and new artists on the label, it is another winner.

Of all the cuts, a real favourite is That’s Fresh from Chris Wood and MEAT, a pair who have released on this label a lot before now. Their track is the sort of pumping and peak time number that gets crowds going mad and dancing non stop. ANEK is another artist who has worked on the label before now and his Work My Body is a writing, tripped out and late night tech cut with odd vocals and effects and a menacing late night naughtiness to it. Nico Cabeza then makes his label debut with Rocambolesco, a teasing track with popping drums and tense bass stabs. Last of all, Super Flu, a German dup also making their debut on the label, serve up Do Ex. It is a steamy and low slung house cut with woodpecker like hits and rich bass as well as sci-fi pads, all adding up to a warm house groover. Overall then this is a winning EP.
