“Thanks man! Yeah this track has been going off every time I drop it in my sets so I’m really excited about it coming out now. The early reactions in on it are amazing. Loads of DJs have mentioned that they will drop this in Miami so I’m sure it will do it’s good rounds over there! I’ve known the NAPT guys since I came to London five years ago and we have been close friends since so it was about the time that we got in the studio to do something together. I’ve also always met up with the label guys at Vicious in Australia when I’m over there so it’s great to be working with them on this one. We have booming remixes from Oliver Twizt, Far Too Loud and others, it’s a strong package!”
One of the reasons you left your home country to move to London was, in your words, “the music scene was very anal and chin stroking.” What was wrong with it, there seems to be some good producers coming out of Sweden?
“My biggest musical problem with Stockholm was the lack of diversity in the dance music scene. My music didn’t seem to fit in with what was dictated my others in Stockholm then. I got heaps of support from big UK DJs and BBC Radio1 but really no support from anyone at home. Then I felt it was time for me to move over to London.”
We have a long ingrown and sad tradition in Scandinavia of only helping your very close friends and keeping strangers out in the cold. London was complete the opposite which really was a life changer for me.
“Things might have changed it looks like, there are more and more diverse music production coming out from Sweden now than ever. I came back to Stockholm this Christmas for my first gig there in a very long time and I had a great time.”
How hard was it for you getting your foot in the door in the music industry?
“It wasn’t easy, one has to be prepared for a lot of unanswered emails. Then if you can get one bigger DJ to play your tracks, the rest will soon follow. But it all starts with good well produced music and having fun in the studio.”
A lot of your productions are layered with hip-hop-esque beats and rhythms – who were the early hip hop artists you were into in your teens as that sound has had an obvious influence on your music…
“I was heavily into Public Enemy as a kid but the producers that really inspired me was Tim Simenon from Bomb the Bass, Kurtis Mantronik and Cold Cut!”
Producers and DJs love your raw production, flipping between broken broken beats and techno, two years ago you admitted you made a decision to just frankly “not give a shit about what people dictated as genres and just do my thing”. So how would you describe ‘your thing’ musically?
“Yeah, I’m not a big fan of pigeon hole music styles. There is nothing more encouraging than hearing people say to me, hey Peo you have your own shit going on. But as far as the Peo de Pitte sound goes it incorporates influences of house, techno, electro, baltimore, hip hop: all this into one energetic danceable form.”

“As long as the atmosphere in the club is right I don’t really care who I play alongside. Although I would love to spin next to A-Trak, he’s an awesome DJ!”
What is the finest record you have ever played to a dancefloor?
“I closed one of my sets with the original acid version of KLF ‘What Time Is Love’ once – such a track!”
You have travelled the world DJing, we checked you out down under on your tour in Australia. Name a few of the clubs you have enjoyed rocking these past few years…
“Villa and Ambar in Perth, Australia have been rocking it. Fabric was awesome and I have to say that last years highlight was definitely the Burning Man festival in the Nevada desert even though that’s not a club.”

What do you love and hate about living in London?
“I love that this city is never boring, there is ALWAYS something to do! And the people are lovely and foremost – funny! I find it hard getting a great breakfast here, I mean an English breakfast is great, but it doesn’t beat in any way a proper Swedish breakfast! Travelling from one side of London to the other can also be a real pain in the ass sometimes.”
I remember you telling us once you shared a flat in town with a fellow producer. Do you talk about anything other than music over the breakfast table?
“It tended to be quite producer geeky yeah. I just moved to my own place. But my best friend neighbour in the flat above me, is once again, a DJ/ producer. Saying that, we do get drunk and then we speak more about girls than music…”
Stockholm has some great restaurants – you must enjoy the trips home…
“Yeah, I do. I miss the good Swedish food so I always try and get out and eat at all the good places there is in Stockholm. My folks have a very nice summer house one hour outside Stockholm where I go every summer, I have a little studio setup over there also. Soon I’ll be there again!”
What advice can you offer to the thousands of wannabe producers and DJs reading this…
“Make productions that shine!!!! I’ve seen a trend the last couple of years that producers love to drop comments like ‘I spent 20 minutes on this track and it’s done and banging’ and ‘I’ve got 3000 songs in my laptop ready to go’. Work hard, yes – do loads of tracks, yes: but make sure those tracks you are putting out are special! If you’re mixdown isn’t there, work another day on it. If your lead sound isn’t right, look through 1000 others until you find the right one. If you can’t get the final sonics right, get a great mastering guy to do his magic on it. I feel a lot of producers let go of things way too early until their tunes are properly done. Also make sure you have fun on the way, that will shine though as well in your productions.”

“I’ve done some cool remixes for Savage Skulls, Plump DJ’s and Blatta & Inesha which are out really soon! And I also just completed my next single for U&A which we are getting remixes in on and I’ve been doing some great collaboration tracks with both Nom de Strip and Jay Robinson which will come out later this year!”
