Sebjak

The next Swedish superstar DJ has landed

Sebjak, welcome to DMC. Three monster remixes on Horehaus, Strictly Rhythm and Zouk/Armada out there at the moment –,happy times!

“Three really fresh remixes which has gotten a lot of attention from really cool people especially the Strictly Rhythm remix which is my favourite remix at the time, it creates magic in the clubs.”

We usually ask at this point how you first got inspired by dance music. We love the M/A/R/R/S incident with your dad – so how come he was so much into these sounds?

“Actually he is into rock music more but the funny thing is he called me the other day and said, “Seb I found this amazing artist called Skrillex you should really listen to him, he has amazing productions.” I just laughed haha, but yes of course he’s a big inspiration for me.”

What other artists / songs did he introduce you to?

“He is a great fan of Infected Mushroom, I remember he bought some CDs early 2000 and showed me and I remember thinking it was really cool.”

If you hadn’t become a producer and DJ – what do you think you would / have liked to have done with your life?

It seems everyone is producing music mid-flight these days, is there still a need for full blown studio’s these days?

“Oh yes. I get people asking me where they can get hold of a studio. It’s really cool and a completely different feeling producing with big speakers in a room which has perfect acoustics.”

What was your first break into the music industry?

“It was my first release ever, a remix for Size Records I did with AN21 which ended up on Steve Angello’s compilation for Erick Morillo’s famous Subliminal Records.”

You have also been quoted as saying as…”producer-tip of the day: always listen to your mixes through Ipod headphone that is where most people will listen to your tunes!” Seriously though, what tips can you give to the many wanna be producers reading this who want to follow in your footsteps?

“Work hard producing takes a lot of time. Then a good thing is to watch Future music Magazine’s ‘In The Studio With…’ – really good tips from really good producers.”
