Trainspotting : Lucien Foort

The big tunes from the big players

Rotterdam’s Lucien Foort has perfected his signature ‘Funk Function’ and ‘Dutch Liquid’ production series with worldwide DJ residencies and festivals, playing for tens of thousands and sharing the stage with the likes of Roni Size, De La Soul, Carl Cox, Ferry Costen, Paul Oakenfold, Armin Van Buren, Tiësto and many more.  Lucien is an internationally acclaimed DJ and artist who has penned club anthems such as ‘Bleeep!’ and ‘Bassification’ (Toolroom), ‘Colour My Eyes’, ‘The Sound Of Love’ (Big Love), ‘The Shame’(Hed Kandi), ‘Shake your Rump’ (Sneakerz Music) and his hit single with I-Fan – ‘Stand Up 4 Love’ (Peppermint Jam). Here, he shares his current bangers…

1. Madeon – Icarus – Popcultur
A crossover between progressive house and electro.  Packed with a healthy dose of ‘new school Daft Punk’.  Madeon is the 1 to watch in 2012. And that at age 17!

2. Ferry Corsten ft Ben Hague – Ain’t No Stoppin (Extended) – Flashover
New direction for Ferry with the his signature flow encapsulated in today’s sound. Roadtested with success and a firm favourite on my USB stick

3. Lucien Foort – Massive Passive (Bigroom Lovers Edit) – Radikal Rhythm
My new release on NEWS records sub label Radikal. It’s set to do big things to that Bigroom floor and we’re currently in the process of getting toplines done.

4.  Maison & Dragen – Rio De Janeiro – Zouk
This is that one record you hear that will linger and you’ll hum waking up the next morning thinking what was it again?

5. DJ Kent – Falling (Lucien Foort Bigfoot Edit) –Diverse City
In love with the original I’ve tried to cross it over into Bigroom territory so that a wide variety of jocks could play it. It worked and they do. Play it louder, not just loud

6.  Otto Knows – Million Voices (Original) – Refune Records
Hands in the air momentum going on here with a chopped up vocals delivering the adrenalin instead of the now infamous Nexus 2k7 Piano preset

7. Lucas Gravell – Ledande – Promo
Dutch new talent that has previously released under moniker Luke-R on Hardwell’s Revealed imprint. Ledande (Which means ‘a leading figure’ in Swedish) is a festival favourite that holds it’s own in the club

8. Falko Niestolik & Tristan Garner – Overdrive – Xtra Life Records
This is that moment where it’s all about shear adrenaline and full force party rocking time. Oh yes. Let’s have it!

9. Matisse & Sadko –  Amulet  – Pilot 6
Progressive house to suite my bigger floor with a hypnotic ‘Giorgio Moroder style’ bassline. As a hypnotic spiral, this is bound to suck you in.

10. Tom Fall & Heikki L ft Ben Andreas – Ordinary World – Zouk
Goosebumps every time I play this out. It’s got the right amount of feel good mixed up with the correct amount of kick ass. This I’ll have anytime of any day!

DJ Kent ft. Malehloka Hlalele ‘Falling’ remixed by Lucien Foort & Duce Martinez is out now on DiverseCity Music US.
