Back To Mine with The Starfuckers

After hours grooving with the Sydney dynamic trio

Sydney’s own party powerhouse, the enigmatic trio known as Starfuckers, certainly know a thing or two about making merry.  Week in, week out, these three work their magic behind the decks bringing their unique brand of electro house to bucket loads of party patrons hanging off their every drop.

But as anybody who likes to go out well knows, equally as important as the main event are the after-party sounds. Taking a more relaxed approach to their tune selection, the three stalwarts of Sydney’s party scene have compiled their own chillout set lists for DMC World’s ‘Back To Mine’ feature.

Taking in a wide selection of personal favourites from Hookie, Trentertainment and Mr Disorder, the eclectic trio of mixes cover the likes of Biggie, Wu Tang and Lauryn Hill, right through to The XX , Phil Collins and The Smiths.  You know what to do – find the comfiest sofa, turn down the lights and prepare for the ultimate chillout, Starfuckers style.

Tryo – Ce Que L’On S’Aime
Good for social situations and background vibes. One to play when having friends over for wine and cheese – adds authenticity.

One More Chance – Biggie (Original Version)
Good for almost any time, but in particular, before heading out for a night on the 1s and 2s, or browsing social media when drunk.

Rufus – Sarah
Good for summer afternoons, barbecues or waking up on the kitchen floor next to an empty bottle of whiskey and half-finished bag of Doritos.

The Presets – Fall
Also a good prelude to an evening out, or better still, something to listen to when you get home at 7am and the sun is coming up.

Phil Collins – Against All Odds
One of my favourite artists/tracks of all time, No one does pop music like Phil Collins. To listen to on closed back headphones and study the genius of the songwriter. No Jacket required.

Mr. Disorder

Radiohead – Pyramid Song
There is no tranquilliser quite like pyramid song. It’s my go-to when I’m in need of some musical meditation.

The Smiths – Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want
I can listen to The Smiths and Morrissey in pretty much any situation but this pint sized masterpiece has the ability to elevate my mood like no other.

Bijelo Dugme – Ružica Si Bila
My childhood memories are riddled with tracks from former Yugoslav Rock bands and composers like Bijelo Dugme and its star, Goran Bregovic, but I reach for this particular timeless classic in the many occasions I’m feeling homesick and nostalgic.

Lauryn Hill – Ex-Factor
From her time with The Fugees to her solo work, Ms Lauryn Hill’s powerful voice and message was the undisputed soundtrack to my high school days. Everybody loves a good tearjerker, and for me, this was hard to beat.

Wu-Tang Clan – Bells Of War
This track is proof that Wu-Tang are hip hop in its purest form. I always find myself walking with an extra swagger in my step whilst listening to this rap classic.

Trentertainment

Nine Inch Nails – Disappointed
Was most definitely not disappointed with the new NIN.

Jeff Buckley – So Real
Never goes astray.

The Knife – Is It Medicine
Happy, pre-club beat with really strange lyrics that I’m pretty sure mean nothing at all.

Sheryl Lee Ralph – In The Evening
Lyrics that everyone can relate to, or at least, everyone I know.

Jamie Woon – Night Air
Great, great and great again; ready for the follow up.
