1 BILL EVANS – PEACE PIECE
From ‘Everybody Digs Bill Evans’ – THE contemplative  jazz piano classic. Like Eric Satie at the Village Vanguard.

2 MOS DEF – UMI SAYS
Life-affirming yet ethereal hip-hop soul from one the  best lyricists.

3 MIDLAKE – ROSCOE (BEYOND THE WIZARD’S SLEEVE  REMIX)
For modern soft-rock, this takes the biscuit. Erol  Alkan does Fleetwood Mac. Ace.

4 CHROMATICS – RUNNING UP THAT HILL
Deadpan electro-pop re-work of Kate Bush  classic.

5 FAIRPORT CONVENTION – AUTOPSY
Sandy Denny and Richard Thompson’s folk-jazz gem. One  of the first things I learnt on guitar.

6 GUI BORATTO – HAUTE COUTURE
Cerebral body music. Spatially aware but effortlessly  groovy.

7 TIGERCITY – SOLITARY MAN
Just signed to Buzzin’ Fly’s indie offshoot, Strange  Feeling. The Cars versus Roxy Music and Prefab Sprout.

8 MLLE CARO AND FRANCK GARCIA – MON ANGE
Austere but cinematically rich orchestrated  electro-pop. This one is a killer ballad. On Buzzin’ Fly.

9 ANDRE GARDEJA – FRESH ANJOULIQUE
Deeply groovy late night, early morning bubbler. A  7am essential.

10 LOLA PERRIN – NEWARK AIRPORT 1
Ambient neo-classical solo piano. Sad but elevating.  We share the same local off-licence.
