Torch – KAPITEL I

This super old German hip-hop track might be unfamiliar to many, but it was pivotal for me, marking the beginning of my hip-hop roots. It was featured on the MZEE Sampler “Alte Schule,” my first proper Hip-Hop vinyl alongside Boogie Down Productions’ “South Bronx” and Stieber Twins’ “Fenster zum Hof.” Ordering these records through an old mail-order catalog was an exciting wait; I’d sit by my window daily, eagerly anticipating the postman’s arrival.

Tame Impala – The Moment

A not so old record. But it‘s already deep anchored in my heart. My Tattoo artist Lucas Wagner was listening to it when he made me a new Tattoo. I liked it from the very first moment and since then the Album and specifically this track became on of my best travel companions.

Rockwell – Somebody’s Watching Me

This song triggers a flood of good memories, whether tied to a breakdance jam or DJ Mehdi spinning it at Neidklub in Hamburg. It always brings back those good times.

Janet Jackson – Together Again

This song is pure joy. I can’t help but smile the moment I listen to it. It encapsulates the finest ’90s RnB vibes.

TLC – Waterfalls

Although I discovered TLC through “No Scrubs” on the radio, I became a big fan, and “Waterfalls” is among my favorite tracks of theirs. Can we please bring this kind of music back?

LL Cool J – Loungin (Who Do Ya Love)

Another gem from the golden Hip-Hop Era. While “Doing It” is great, “Loungin” resonates perfectly with my vibe. I’ve always cherished listening to it at home or at the Assota Sounds parties in Hamburg.

Carly Simon – Why

This song is perfect for those moments when I’m basking in the sun, cherishing life. It’s a beautiful piece of music.

SWV – Right Here – (Human Nature Mix)

This song evokes so much emotion; it still gives me goosebumps whenever I listen to it.

Frank Ocean – Lost

Another relatively recent song that quickly found its place among my all-time favorites upon release. Frank Ocean is amazing, and I enjoy the remixes, especially when heading to electronic clubs or festivals to hear his voice.

Rufus & Chaka Khan – Aint Nobody

Ok, I already want to dance in the living room when the YouTube video just opened. Wow. What a masterpiece.
