Bugwell is part of the new generation pushing through the ranks across the spectrum of Drum & Bass. And after detonating crowds at the likes of Warehouse Project and Boomtown through his sets, Bugwell brings his explosive energy. As he joins forces with Junk Mail on, ‘Stronger’, their first-ever collaboration for RAM Records, DMCWorld goes Back To Mine with Bugwell.
DJ Shadow – Six Days (Machinedrum Remix)
This track is so dusty and vintage sounding, with a swampy groove that you can’t help but nod your head to.
Ben Bohmer, Mils Hoffmann & Malou – Breathing
I saw Ben Bohmer play this track live at Brixton Academy a few months ago and there’s something about it that is so effortlessly energetic, layered with emotion and feeling.
Boards of Canada – Dawn Chorus
Boards of Canada are one of my favourite artists – they are one of the few artists I have consistently listened to since I discovered them, when I was around 18. They are the gift that keeps on giving – you can never really consume their tracks, there is always something more to be found there.
Zero 7 – Destiny
This track gives me a real nostalgia, but it still sounds so fresh. This is another one that has been a staple in my listening sphere for many years. Sia is also one of my favourite singers so discovering that she was on this record made it all the more potent.
Groove Armada – Hands of Time
There is something about this track that really hits the spot. Equal measures of soul, groove and energy. The fact that Groove Armada made this record blows my mind – a clear display of their absolutely immense versatility.
Panpot – Sleepless (Stephan Bodzin Remix)
Stephan Bodzin is such a unique artist and his live shows always really blow my mind. What I love about his tracks is that whilst they totally go off in the rave, they fit perfectly into the after hours vibe. I love the emotion in his music, it’s really singular.
Boards of Canada – Peacock Tail
Another track from Boards of Canada. This tune really builds so spectacularly – it begins so understated and subtly keeps adding layers as the track progresses. Another staple track for me – perfect for after hours.
Tinlicker – Nachtwork
Love the vibe on this track, unique energy, nostalgic but uplifting.
Rokysopp – Eple
This tune was a real eye opener for me, I discovered it whilst at University and it showed me the other side to electronic music – it really showed me the possibilities of how style and emotion could play out. This tune still gives me goosebumps and takes me right back to being 18 again.
Nightmares On Wax – Morse
Another one from the uni days. This was the first track we used to listen to when we got home from the rave – it always set the tone for the rest of the night. Real afterglow track.
Junk Mail & Bugwell ‘Stronger’ is out now on RAM Records.
