2 (1) DANIELE BALDELLI & DJ ROCCA – PODALIRIUS REMIXES VOL.1 – NANG

Three choice cuts with Andrew Weatherall working Complotto Geometrico into a chunky intricately woven out there Balearic delight. 3 (NEW) DHARMA PROTOCOL FT. BOY GEORGE – COMING HOME – VERY ME

Anthemic big production quality house showstopper, with a fantastic vocal from an English treasure. Raise your hands and pout. http://youtu.be/fda06aWNO7s

4 (4) TONE OF ARC – GOODBYE HORSES / LOVE KISSED REMIXES –

No. 19 MUSIC

Norway’s Prins Thomas adds his own distinctive style to Goodbye Horses, teasing the infectious vocal melodies with sparse kraut rock and eighties disco influences, working and complementing it with due respect. The result will have you humming and singing all day long. Meanwhile Italian duo Luca C & Brigante deliver a couple of nice mixes of Love Kissed. https://soundcloud.com/no19music/tone-of-arc-goodbye-horses-1

5 (6) AKRA – TUNNELVISION – TENG

Deep and cavernous melodic techno, with rhythmic pulses, sinister organ, emotive piano and an overall dark superior feel. http://youtu.be/U90GJyAoufU

6 (3) THE RIOT SQUAD – THE TOY SOLDIER EP – ACID JAZZ

David Bowie was the lead singer of The Riot Squad for a short number of weeks in 1967, and what we’ve got here is four very rare unearthed demos and an incline to his obsession with The Velvet Underground. The title track gets us off to a psychedelic and slightly sadistic creepy start, that doffs a cap to Venus In Furs, complete with mimicking vocals. Next up is a delicate version of Bowie’s Decca classic Silly Boy Blue, followed by a great pounding rendition of V. U.’s I’m Waiting For My Man, which is the amazing stand out cut here. The EP comes to a close with more Anthony Newley-isms in the shape of Silver Treetop School For Boys. A must for all Bowie fans. http://youtu.be/lPwCSem3cUQ

7 (8) NUTTY NYS FT. ABE MOLAMU – NKA MO DIRA REMIXES –

MB DISCO

The South African House anthem gets two quality filled European overhauls. Prins Thomas is up first, working a firing rhythm section, that’s not too far removed from Harry Thumann’s 1979 disco classic Underwater, then building with subtle repetitive synth licks le French Kiss style. MB Disco boss Martin Brodin delivers the other mix, keeping the Underwater vibe and adding some nice clattering percussion alongside whooshing sonics. https://soundcloud.com/alchemyremixmanagement/nutty-nys-nka-mo-dira-prins-1

8 (NEW) TERRY FARLEY PRESENTS ACID RAIN:

DEFINITIVE ORIGINAL ACID & DEEP HOUSE 1985 – 1991 – HARMLESS

After much head scratching and chin stroking, Boy’s Own head honcho El Tel, has meticulously and lovingly put together 61 tracks over 5 CD’s. It does what it says on the tin, and it’s an absolute delight for DJ’s, dealers & punters alike. http://youtu.be/qGGnkiRYqD4

9 (19) FAIRMONT – AUTOMATON REMIXES 2 – MY FAVORITE ROBOT

PT2 Kicks off with a kooky little number care of Ivan Smagghe & Tim Paris in their It’s A Fine Line guise, as they playfully glitch, ping, nip & tuck Creatures Of The Night, complementing the dead pan vocal to a tee. Nhar floats Sara’s boat on a glistening sea with shimmering Balearicness, the My Favorite Robot team give Waiting some stripped back techno treatment, and Nitin & Clayton Steele bring the remix package to a close with a bit of percussive satanism. https://soundcloud.com/my-favorite-robot-records/fairmont-creatures-of-night-it

10 (12) TOMAS MORE – THE DAY I SPOKE EP – MY FAVORITE ROBOT

The title cut is a superb slab of first rate techno, that boasts strange sounding off kilter rhythmic patterns, working their way around creepy spoken vocals and atmospheric pads, creating the lure of the serial killer. LSD is not advisable. https://soundcloud.com/my-favorite-robot-records/sets/tomas-more-the-day-i-spoke-ep

11(NEW) PRIMAL SCREAM – INVISIBLE CITY (DANIEL AVERY REMIXES) – IGNITION

Bobby Gillespie sums this up rather nicely: Summer psyche electro. Sounds like ketamine music to me. https://soundcloud.com/danielavery/primal-scream-invisible-city

12 (5) ROYAL FOREST – SPILLWAY – MOLLUSC

A psychedelic outfit from Austin, Texas, that like to work with analogue tape loops, manipulate sounds, experiment on a whim and go out on a limb, but they keep it musical and write good songs with a slight sense of humour. If you’re into The Flaming Lips, Eels and Grandaddy…   http://youtu.be/n2D2JtjtyIE     http://youtu.be/Lzz-1lt6aUY

13 (17) DEXTERS – START TO RUN – ACID JAZZ

Hoxton outfit deliver their second single, a crowd pleasing good time guitar number that should see plenty of warm lager flying through the air. http://youtu.be/6zRj2PxbAL4

14 (14) SAMARIS – SAMARIS – ONE LITTLE INDIAN

The debut UK release from an Icelandic band whose speciality is haunting glacial songs that have got a certain Sigur Ros go on a beautiful ethereal journey with Bjork. This LP is made up from their first two EP’s, followed by 4 remixes. A stunning introduction to a very talented and out there new band. http://youtu.be/_pKuzdMFE8k

15 (16) DEPARTMENT M – THE SECOND PRIZE – TOO PURE SINGLES CLUB

Yet another cutting edge outfit from Leeds, with their second single, a firing on all cylinders electro glam rocker, with sinister synth atmospherics and a hint of trashy disco. http://youtu.be/LjRNtMsIi_w

16 (NEW) DAVID LYNCH – THE BIG DREAM – SUNDAY BEST

The legendary film director’s sophomore LP is more complete than his debut, the songs flow together better, they are a bit more out there but in a subtle way, and his vocals have got a certain Daniel Johnston meets Tricky meets Liberace feel about them. Spangled to the max. http://youtu.be/6tTDxSdudNM

17 (9) MR G – MR G EP – CONTEMPORARY SCARECROW

The hip Australian label’s second record release comes courtesy of the pioneering Colin McBean aka Mr G, who serves up 4 cuts of Detroit influenced supreme techno. The opening Potent surfs rolling toms, carefully placed stabs and a perfect pitched ride that’ll take you even higher. Dancefloor is a low slung hip shaker with head swirling percussion, nifty key hooks and sexy soulful vocals. The sparser Tune In gets boomy going deeper, with distant vocal loops a simple key riff, and the closing Seapuss is a bit like being caught up and washed ashore in the surf. Impressive. http://youtu.be/m5Nc5iGOGLk

18 (21) LOUIE FRESCO – NEW HATERATION EP – MEXA

The original mix has got a dark exotic and forbidden Middle Eastern feel, working luring classical guitar, don’t look now synth licks and a fat slithering bass, a bit like getting lost and paranoid in the Souks of Marrakech. MK delivers a booty shakin’ funky bumper of a remix.

19 (NEW) NEW ORDER – LIVE AT BESTIVAL 2012 – SUNDAY BEST

Shut your eyes, soak up the atmosphere and jump around the front room as New Order blaze through their blistering live set, which includes a few Joy Division numbers. Your neighbours won’t be happy, unless of course they get an invite. http://youtu.be/wWrAMnDGTx8

20 (NEW) NINA SIMONE – FUNKIER THAN A MOSQUITO’S TWEETER

(MOJO FILTER RE-RUB) – AOR DISCO

Superb hip shaking seductive overhaul with plenty of percussive Afro licks and tantalizing rhythms to lead you into temptation. From Vintage Edits Vol.3.

21 (NEW) THE SUPERMAN LOVERS – MOMENTS – LA TEBWA

Cute and cuddly blissed out electronics with sunshine strumming and my favourite android vocodered vocals, riding catchy melodies on groovy rhythms. If Air did retro futurist 70’s disco… http://youtu.be/_ctEaK5dL3s

22 (24) BOOM MERCHANT – TEMUJIN – TRIBAL PULSE

The debut release from Glasgow’s Tribal Pulse comes from the Irish born Boom Merchant. It features ancient throat warbling techniques alongside driving percussion and rhythmic key riffs, giving off a certain 1990’s feel. Acidulant takes it down a progressive house route with rumbling bass, squelches and a warped high string, meanwhile Pole Folder layers subtle rain forest rhythms. https://soundcloud.com/tribal-pulse/boom-merchant-temujin-1

23 (23) PROMPT – SENJA EP – 7NOISE

Nice sparse and skanky house number with dub elements from the Spanish producer.

https://soundcloud.com/promptproductions/prompt-senja-original

24 (25) KISK – NATURAL MESSAGE – DABIT

A nice bit of bumping and filtered house, built around the main string riff from MFSB’s Love Is The Message, which went on to become the main hook in The Salsoul Orchestra’s Ooh I Love It. Sarp Yilmaz delivers a stripped back mix that builds on a pumping bassline and jazzy key flourishes. https://soundcloud.com/kisk/kisk-natural-message-original

25 (NEW) GABRIEL MILLER PHILLIPS – ONE FOR THE CROW – WHYTEHOUSE

Debut LP of honest intimate songs with a dark and slightly twisted feel, giving a sense of desperation and isolation. The album was recorded in Brooklyn with an impressive range of musicians that capture and enhance the mood. http://youtu.be/afKSgdvcZ8c
