The countdown to Ministry of Sound Live, the biggest NYE party to take place in Europe, has been ticking in anticipation since the event was announced in September with its all star line up including Calvin Harris, Justice, Deadmau5, Eric Prydz, Plump DJs, Dave Spoon and Example plus a live BBC Radio 1 broadcast from the stroke of midnight.
Ministry of Sound Live will offer revellers all night entertainment with nine hours of music accompanying spectacular visuals especially created for the event. A unique production policy will transform the arena via multiple stages, breathtaking lighting, pyrotechnic displays and an aerial walkway that will see artists and entertainers performing along an LED lit stage high above the crowd.
The DJ stage will offer a 360 degree experience for the artists and the event goers, acting as the main body of a massive eight legged lighting rig that will move and expand as the night draws closer to midnight.
For the midnight moment a bespoke pyrotechnic display will be unveiled programmed to Calvin Harris’s set offering the audience an unforgettable experience as they see in 2010.

JUSTICE first came to prominence through their 2003 remix of Simian’s track “Never Be Alone’ and have worked on remixes for a number of French groups (Vicarious Bliss, Scenario Rock, Gambit) as well as for larger mainstream acts such as Britney Spears, N*E*R*D, Fatboy Slim and Daft Punk. Their debut album † was released in June 2007 to critical acclaim and was nominated for a Grammy Award for “Best Electronic/Dance Album” and for the 2007 Shortlist Prize.
Their style has been thought of as having some heavy metal influence and combines cut up bass lines with a compressed and distorted synth sound. Their music often includes bass slapping which results in an electro house style.
PLUMP DJS sound is revered for its blurring of the boundaries between electronic musical styles taking in Breakbeat, House and Techno. From the now legendary Laboratoire de Plump in the deepest darkest depths of seedy Soho the Plump DJs have produced and unleashed four major artist albums to date, Eargasm, A Plump Night Out, Saturday Night Lotion and Headthrash, all hugely acclaimed by both fans and music press alike.
The Plumps have also enjoyed major success both in the clubs and in the charts with over 30 of their own releases and remix commissions from the likes of BT, Orbital, The Freestylers, DeeJay Punk Roc and Mint Royal to name a few.

DEADMAU5 aka Joel Zimmerman doesn’t like being called a DJ. The 28-year-old dance music phenomenon from Toronto, better known as Deadmau5, rolls his eyes at the description, which he sees as a hopelessly outdated way of describing what he does. His sets are closer to live performances. He plays mostly his own material, assembling tracks on the fly, using cutting edge computer technology, including software he’s helped write himself.
It’s no exaggeration to say that he’s the most exciting name in dance music right now. Over the last three years he’s released a string of club hits, starting with Faxing Berlin in 2006, followed last year by the Ghosts N Stuff, while this year he reached Number 14 with I Remember, his collaboration with American producer Kaskade – the track has now sold over 120,000 copies. This October, Zimmerman releases his new album, For Lack Of A Better Name, which brings together the best of his single releases from the last 12 months
ERIC PRYDZ has achieved huge commercial success. Since teaming up with Data Records (Ministry of Sound) he has achieved three top two hits in the UK. Eric’s debut for Data, “Call On Me”, released in 2004, flew straight to number one not only in the UK charts (6 weeks) but also topped the charts in many countries, eventually culminating into a global hit, selling 4 million copies world-wide.
After becoming the only artist ever to be given the go ahead to sample Pink Floyd, Prydz release the huge “Proper Education” which reached number two in the charts, and was subsequently nominated for a Grammy. Summer 2008 saw “Pjanoo” become his third successive commercial hit, also reaching number 2 in the charts.
DAVE SPOON has firmly established himself as one of the hottest DJ/producers the scene has to offer, releasing top quality productions with his trademark grinding basslines, and rocking dance floors across the globe with his twisted electro sound.
In 2006 keen to push musical boundaries and break new sounds Spoon released ‘At Night’ – an almighty dancefloor killer with a seriously infectious bassline. With an added vocal in 2007, courtesy of Lisa Mafia, the track crossed over as ‘Bad Girl (At Night)’, the biggest record of the Summer, earning Spoon his first top 40 hit.
Having landed himself a show on Radio 1’s ‘In new DJ’s we trust’ and with studio projects underway writing his artist album, and working with the likes of Pete Tong, it seems a string of new original material is soon to be heard on a sound system near you, and an era of success looms large for the Spoon.
EXAMPLE aka Elliot Gleave has made a pop record. The raps are razorwire sharp, they’re warm and funny and perceptive snatches of life and “female-based chat” from a 26-year-old music brain that’s already won thousands of fans with its laddish, shout along charm.
Example has chosen the god like talents of Scotland’s finest Calvin Harris and the mighty Metrophonic – the multi-person production team headed up by pop super-producer Brian Rawling – who more than knows a thing or two about global hit making having worked with the likes of superstars Britney and Kylie.
Example’s widescreen look at life is a vision perhaps typical of a man who has immersed himself, since being a teenager, not only in street culture but also in film making. This new album comes with all the 26-year-old’s energy channelled into a desire to be on big stages, and to get on the biggest stage, he reasons, you need the biggest songs.
Example is signed to Ministry of Sound, his latest track ‘Sun Come Up’ is currently in the UK Top 20 chart, and is destined for greatness.
