Hardwell

‘Run Wild’ – Progressive House at its finest – the big man is back with a BANG!!!!!!!!!!!

Dude. A massive welcome back to DMCWORLD. Bus tour ticked off. Where on planet earth are you today?

Thank you for having me again! Yeah was a great experience, still buzzing from it but also feeling ready for a little rest before Miami! I’m back home and just about to get into the studio to finish some ideas for my sets during Miami and Ultra Music Festival.

Best track you have heard today?

My new track ‘Calavera’ with Kura is sounding really hot right now!

Another week, another major piece of music from the man like Hardwell. This time it is in the form of ‘Run Wild’ featuring Jake Reese…please talk us through the history and production of the track…

Jake’s an artist I’m a really big fan of. He’s got incredible range and I really loved how ‘Mad World’ turned out so following the success of that, we both agreed we had to get in the studio again for a follow up. The tracks been through a couple of changes since I first played it at EDC UK last year but towards the end of 2015 we got the final version together…and I first premiered that version on my Hardwell On Air show last month. It’s been a big one in my sets this year so far!

As mentioned, you have just completed the Revealed North America Bus Tour with Thomas Newson and Kill The Buzz. Let’s pick a few dates and ask you for a highlight from each…

Philadelphia – The show at the SoundGarden Hall was so much fun! It was great seeing Thomas Newson and Kill The Buzz both teasing the crowd with new music from the label and the overall energy was wild!

Atlanta – The Tabernacle in Atlanta was great fun to play at! It’s a concert hall with two balconies, so the crowd are spread all around you and that means the atmosphere in the room is just wild when its at that perfect tempo! I played ‘Run wild’ during my set at this show and I swear the energy levels kicked up about 2 notches!

Philadelphia – The show at the SoundGarden Hall was so much fun! It was great seeing Thomas Newson and Kill The Buzz both teasing the crowd with new music from the label and the overall energy was wild!

Boston – Royale was one of my favourite shows of the tour. We had a chance to go and check out the city which was something you don’t always get when on tour, its why I love bus tours! The venue itself is amazing. The stage show was huge and the crowd were nuts from start to finish!

New York – Playing NYC is always a pleasure. I’m in love with NYC, but then who isn’t right?! Marquee is such a fantastic club and is definitely one of those clubs DJ’s love to play at. I always enjoy playing to a New York crowd and it’s a great chance to play out new music too.

Montreal – New City Gas is one of those venues that just sets you up for a big occasion. It’s such an impressive venue and the crowd there is like one of those famed Ibiza crowds, they just go in, head down and dance like crazy! Such a great venue to include in the tour!

All your fans check into your world all the time, they love seeing how a superstar DJ lives on tour…5 star hotels, swanky restaurants, first class travel. You’ve just spent a few weeks on a tour bus with a load of guys. What were your fellow travellers like…hygienic?

Haha, to be honest we were fine. You kind of get used to the snoring or smell socks lying around on the floor. After the show we partied on the bus for a bit but the next day we’re back to work, we’re focusing on the next show and we’re all ready for the gig!

What was the funniest moment of the bus trip?

Not really funny but playing B2B2B with both Thomas and Kill the Buzz was the most fun part.

An up n’ coming producer to watch out for this year…

One of the guys on the label Thomas Newson has some very cool tracks coming up which are going to turn a few heads, so expect some fresh and exciting new music from him. He was a real hit with the fans during the Revealed bus tour last month so I’m seeing a very bright 2016 for him.

Which famous person would you most like to see play you in a film?

Errm tough question! Can I pick Johnny Depp?

What’s the biggest risk you’ve ever taken?

After I being voted #1 in the Top 100 DJ Poll I jumped out of a plane, thanks to a bet I had with my friends. It was incredibly scary at the time because I don’t love heights but was something amazing looking back!

What accomplishment in your life are you most proud of?

Achieving my goal to be able to make music as my life and career. I’m truly thankful to everyone in my life, the fans, my family, my team and everyone else, that has helped make this possible.

Where are some of the big DJ dates in your diary you are looking forward to later this month?

I’m really excited to be back in Miami with my Revealed Presents night on Weds 16th at Nikki Beach, also looking forward to playing Ultra Music festival. I’ll be in Kuala Lumpur 1st April with my Go Hardwell or Go Home night, then in Jakarta on the 2nd for my I AM Hardwell – United We Are world tour, which then goes to Taipei on 9th April.

And finally, what is coming out next from you studio wise…

My current single ‘Run Wild’ is what I’m still pushing, I also have another single with Kura coming up next and I’ve some fresh new music planned to follow up, as well as some very exciting collaborations and remixes coming soon too. I’ll be Revealing all soon…
