Ibiza 2012 Special

What is your favourite memory of Ibiza 2012?

“Watching Lenny Kravitz play with Luciano from where I was standing on a friend’s balcony. Pretty random, but where else you going to be able to see that?”

Tune of the summer?

“Far Too Loud – ‘Desibel’.”

Most overplayed record of the summer?

“Ummet Ozcan – ‘The Box’ (sorry Ummet but it was!).”

Favourite resident DJ on the island?

“Must be still Paul van Dyk!”

Why is Ibiza still the best party location in the world?

“Might be seeing some serious competition with Vegas right now!”

Ibiza is now split straight down the middle with serious DJs spinning quality house and techno on one side, and DJs playing the big room bangers on the other. Discuss…

“Who cares, in the end it’s music EVERYWHERE on EVERY SIDE. I think that’s the best thing about the island.  So many types of people and dance music to hear and see.”

What new party caused the biggest splash in their debut summer this year? And why?

“I think Colors did an amazing job this year as a new party. I think in Ibiza surviving the first year is always trying, but it seem to do so brilliantly, with a marked increase in clubbers each week at Es Paradis.”

Favourite restaurant and beach in Ibiza?

“Kanya. And as far as beaching goes, I still have yet to make it to one!”

Do you think the 123 Rocktronic Festival that featured the likes of Lenny Kravitz, Elton John, Sting, David Guetta and Tiesto this year is an important addition to the Ibiza summer, or do you think it is a case of one too many party on an already bulging season?

“Well I know it had a few difficulties because of the huge competiition,  but even still, the concept was really terrific, and like I said above, some truly original ideas.”

What is the one record that will always remind you of Ibiza…?

“Not sure.  Wish I had an interesting answer here, I’ve never been the Audio-Sentimentality type.”

Best venue in Ibiza and why?

“Probably Space or Privilege.”

A lot of money has been spent on the island in recent years improving things, what do you think is the biggest improvement on the island?

“Seems at the airport things are moving and working a lot better.  So definitely the airport infrastructure is a plus!”

What nationality are the craziest people on the dancefloor?

“The Irish on vacation in Ibiza are amongst my faves…”

Breakthrough artist of 2012?

“Far Too Loud, who’s been around for a while sure, but I think proper worldwide recognition has finally struck for him.”

If you had to pick one person to go out clubbing with in Ibiza, who would it be?

“One of my brothers, either of them.  We are a true CLUBBING family, even my parents come to my New York gigs.”

And finally, tell us about your first trip to the white isle…

“Was a trip over to play at a party called Peach.  Great in concept, but the island’s promotion laws/rules actually proved to be a huge thorn in its heel and it ended only a few weeks later, but still, it was a fun romp!”
