DMC Kicks Back…
John Dahlback (The Swedish Mafia)

It cannot be ignored any longer, Sweden is an solute hotbed of House music talent at the moment. The land of tall, leggy blondes, and enviable healthcare has been turning out some of the world’s most innovative producers for a number of years now. The latest addition to an already overflowing list, comes a certain John Dahlback whose summary is enough to make you sick. Clever, musically sophisticated, innovative, young…shall I go on?

John Dahlback is big news At just 24 he is already a seasoned producer who’s achievements include two albums under his belt, his own record label Pikadoll, numerous heavy productions and an enviable international touring history. As a producer he is constantly evolving his sound, more interested in the development of his music than promoting the lifestyle of an over hyped DJ. His philosophy behind what he does is honest and refreshingly simple;

“I’m quite calm when I DJ. I don’t want to be ‘showy’ and I love to play for dancing people, to really see them loving the tunes. And I love to make the tunes that get them dancing.”

So far so good as John’s music has that undeniable quality that simply demands to have your attention. This quest for quality has led to his next venture, the formation of a new label – Mutants – based in the UK that will allow him to showcase his own work and the work of others producers that inspired him.

 “I will be releasing my own stuff through Mutants as well as the other artist’s tracks, and that could be anyone. If you were to send me a track and I liked it and it had the ‘Mutants’ feeling then I could release it. It doesn’t have to come from the hottest artists of the moment”.

The first release on this new label is an album of the same name. ‘Mutants’ is a collection of John’s biggest and most personal moments in his career so far, showcasing his unique sound and style and incorporating pure House through to Electro, Techno and Progressive. From the head pounding electro fests of ‘Blink’ and ‘Everywhere’ (both of which have received millions of YouTube views) through the building, progressive nature of ‘Hustle Up’ to his absurdly hooky latest single ‘Bingo’, it’s a carefully considered, meticulously polished album of unparalleled finesse.

“‘Hustle Up’, ‘Blink’ and ‘Everywhere’ have been my biggest tracks in my career. Each of them has meant a lot to my personal style of productions'”.

With the release of this album and more projects in the pipeline John Dahlback is set to become one of dance music’s brightest talents. You heard It Here First.
