Nick Bridges, Half Of Bodyrox

Bodyrox… two guys just running away with it at the moment. We say hello to Nick Bridges, one of the main men…

So Nick, you two are ridding the crest of the wave at the moment. ‘Yeah Yeah’ and What Planet You On’ smashed the world all over the shop, getting props from the likes of DMC and Radio 1 in their charts, but the next step is your new single ‘Brave New World’, tell us about the tune…
“Well it’s another collaboration with Luciana and we’ve also got Nick Clow singing in one of the breaks. The feedback we’ve had is that it’s more clubby than our last single… this wasn’t our intention though. It has all the same ingredients as our other stuff but just tougher.”

So next we hear your debut album is coming our way and we understand there’s different material on it from what we’d normally expect from you?
“It’s 90% complete. And yes it is diverse, some breaky tracks, dark techno tunes plus of course traditional Bodyrox dancefloor rockers. We really happy with it”

2009 will see you boys hitting the festival circuit and other live shows… how will all that look?
“Luciano features heavily on the album so she will be fronting it. But what we have done with this album is use a lot of live instruments that we can use them in the show. We are also talking to some incredible visuals and will also be looking to hit the big clubs too. Can’t wait to hit the festivals…”

What places you’ve been DJing at this year have rocked your boat?
“I guess the Australia tour was the best, amazing clubs, friendly people, knew their music. The Freedom Festival in Sydney was unreal. 8000 people just going for it.”

What has been your tune of 2008?
The Dirty South – Shield big one hasn’t left my box”

How was Ibiza?
Es Paradis had some incredible people there this year and it was the busiest it’s been for ages”

What music inspired you as a kid to enter the world of dance music?
Well I was into Indie to begin with, The Inspirals, Stone Roses and The Charlatans which then led to me listening to early rave stuff. And then it went mental!”.

What DJs have you been with this year that have done it for you?
One stands out. Mr James Zabiela.”
“Now can I go back to the studio…”

Go on then!
