The Next Big Thing
‘Crash Jack’ – New Track by Darren Emerson

You started DJing at a very early age, 14 ! What were your early musical influences that got spinning on the wheels of steel?
“Grandmaster Flash and all that great early electro music that was around in the early 80s is what really turned me on to it all.  I still love it.”

Underworld. What was the craziest moment on the road with y’all?
“There were so many great moments.  From making great music together in the studio through to taking it out live and playing gigs like the main stage at Glastonbury.  Japan was always a real buzz for us too.  We were lucky, we came along with a sound people really got into and it blew up from there. There wasn’t mad, mad crazy moments like throwing TVs out of the hotel windows but more just having a laugh, sinking a  few pints here and there, etc!”

So you departed company with them in 2000 and are still one of the most respected DJs on the planet. What clubs are rocking your boat at the moment across the globe?
“Womb in Japan – I just had a great night there. The Answer in Seoul was cool. Pacha in Argentina was great the last time I played there and Space in Ibiza is an experience you can always rely on.”

Kate Thornton – well, Darren, how the hell did you meet her if you don’t mind us asking?
“In Ibiza. We were introduced by a mutual friend and have been together ever since.  I won her over in my speedos!”

What’s up and coming music wise from you?
“I’m doing two new Global Underground albums, the first of which will be out in the New Year and I’ve got a new track coming out this month called ‘Crash Jack’. It’s a busy old time.”
